Stability and security
Trustix™ Secure Linux is specifically designed to deliver unrivalled stability and security across the full range of enterprise server deployments. All services are pre-configured to their secure defaults and are specifically targeted towards the precise needs of a server. Full dependency checking is carried out at Trustix™ labs to ensure that Trustix™ Secure Linux can be immediately deployed in high performance business environments. This is in stark contrast to other Linux distributions whose baggy, multiple package approach can lead to configuration nightmares when administrators attempt to modify the OS services. Fewer software packages means fewer security holes and optimised performance.

Secure Upgrades
Upgrades are implemented using Trustix™ Secure Linux 's proprietary SWUP™ module.
SWUP™ is an extension for existing software packaging systems to facilitate automatic and secure updates and installations. SWUP™ dynamically configures dependencies between software packages, and is able to fetch any additional software required during install or upgrade. The administrator can also manually upgrade whist retaining the benefit of automatic dependency resolution.
SWUP™ also inspects the update prior to download to ensure that it is a genuine update of Trustix™ Secure Linux . This guarantees the integrity of each package before installation or updating purposes. It also prevents man-in-the-middle attacks where a server can become compromised and therefore issue corrupted or modified files. Only updates that have been verified by the Trustix™ Secure Linux team will be downloaded by SWUP™.
SWUP is the most secure and convienient and flexible Linux updater available.
Every subscriber to Trustix™ Secure Linux Enterprise Server receives free upgrades to the latest version of the distribution. For example, existing owners of the current version 2 release will automatically qualify for an upgrade when the newer version becomes available. (Subscriptions are on an annual basis- so if the update comes out 6 months into your current subscription period you will be eligible for the upgrade, free of charge.)
Performance
Trustix™ Secure Linux is pre-configured to maximise the performance of enterprise servers.
Trustix™ Secure Linux version 2 features a host of improvements and new features which further extend performance, stability and security. Highlights include the new XFS file system, IBM Stack Protection, VSFTPD, and Samba 3.0.
There are no superflous, resource hogging packages in a Trustix™ Secure Linux deployment. For example, other distributions carry flashy, CPU draining GUIs that nobody is ever likely to use or see. By dispensing with such unnessesary follies, Trustix™ Secure Linux reserves all available resources for the smooth, efficient running of the server.
Applications
As an open source Linux distribution, Trustix™ Secure Linux is fully compatible with the whole range of specifically designed applications and 3rd party developments. It is also compatible with applications that have been designed for other Linux distributions. For example, Oracle database releases are fully integratable into Trustix™ Secure Linux server deployments.
(Note- Trustix™ Secure Linux also features complete harmonisation with the entire Trustix™ Server Application range. For example, Trustix™ Web server ships with Trustix™ Secure Linux as it's operating system. It is preconfigured by our technicians to take advantage of all the enhanced security and performance features of Trustix™ Secure Linux and can be immediately deployed into a working environment. This removes the need for administrators to alter dependency and service permutations as would normally be the case with rival distributions.)

Continued Development and maintenance
Trustix™ is committed to the long term development and improvement of Trustix™ Secure Linux . We do not subscribe the idea of immediately implementing the latest, flashiest packages into its Trustix™ Secure Linux distribution in order to maintain some mythical, cutting edge relevance. Until a new technology or package has had time to 'bed down', it is likely to be buggy and therefore a security/stability risk. Trustix™ Secure Linux Enterprise is so thouroughly tested and debugged that new applications are not implemented until our technicians are completely satisfied as to their security and compatibility. This ensures that every release and update of Trustix™ Secure Linux is immediately deployable in a real-life server situation.
